The British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia (BABC) is partnering with the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia’s Travel the World Program on some fascinating journeys in 2027. World Affairs has been curating small group educational travel for 65+ years, delving into culture, history, and international affairs guided by experts from across the world. From May 1-10, we invite you to stay aboard the luxurious Le Lapérouse with the World Affairs Council.

The first journey is an eight-night voyage exploring Celtic culture across four captivating countries: Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and France with seasoned tour host, Trina Medarev, President & CEO of the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville.

Aboard the Le Lapérouse, set sail from Honfleur, France, and travel onward to Fairlie, Scotland, immersing yourself in powerful WWII history at the D-Day Battlefields in Normandy with David D. Eisenhower II.

Along the way, discover the distinctive wonders of each destination, from the medieval charm of Wales, the literary and cultural heritage of Dublin, the quiet peace of Iona, and the windswept majesty of Skye. With visits to stunning castles, gardens, and iconic historic sites, this itinerary weaves together centuries of history, culture, and music against the backdrop of spectacular landscapes.

Program features include:

  • · A full-day Normandy excursion to Omaha beach, the Longues-sure-Mer battery, and the Normandy American Cemetery.
  • · Lectures from featured guest speaker Dwight David Eisenhower II (Grandson of President Dwight D. Eisenhower)
  • · Visits to the UNESCO-designated sites of Caernarfon Castle and Wales and the Book of Kells (inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register)
