The British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia (BABCPHL) is proud to spotlight our members’ Bucks County Community College (BCCC) and the Welsh Government in a landmark achievement—the launch of BCCC’s first international academic partnership. This milestone collaboration with Wrexham University in Wales offers Bucks’ students an affordable, seamless, and globally focused pathway to higher education abroad. It exemplifies the power of transatlantic relationships and the strong ties between our regions.
Through this innovative program, BCCC students who complete an Associate Degree in Business Administration can transfer directly to Wrexham University to earn a bachelor’s degree in just one additional year, choosing between Business and Management or Accounting and Finance Management. Participants may also pursue an accelerated MBA, completing both undergraduate and graduate degrees in just four years from the time they begin at Bucks.
“This is more than a transfer agreement; it’s a transformational experience,” said Patrick M. Jones, President & CEO of Bucks County Community College.
The partnership deepens educational and cultural links between Greater Philadelphia and Wales. This connection that has gained prominence in recent years thanks to actor and producer Rob McElhenney, a South Philadelphian and co-owner of Wrexham A.F.C. McElhenney’s pride in his hometown and investment in Wrexham’s revitalization have highlighted the town’s dynamic spirit and global appeal.
“This international partnership with Bucks County Community College is incredibly exciting as it reflects our commitment to creating global pathways in education,” said Moss Garde, Pro Vice-Chancellor for External Engagement and Partnerships at Wrexham University. “By opening up new opportunities for collaboration and student mobility, we are delivering on our 2030 vision to be a connected, inclusive, and globally engaged university.”
The Bucks–Wrexham initiative reflects a growing interest among American students in pursuing affordable, high-quality education abroad—blending rigorous academics with meaningful cultural exchange. The program includes a $2,500 scholarship toward tuition for Bucks students enrolling at Wrexham University.
As an Educational, Arts & Charitable Institution member of the BABCPHL, Bucks County Community College and Wrexham University embody our mission to foster transatlantic collaboration, strengthen commercial ties, and support mutual investment.
The Welsh Government is a long-standing and valued partner of the BABCPHL. Welsh First Ministers, government officials, and business leaders frequently visit Pennsylvania when in the Northeast region, reinforcing the rich cultural and economic ties between Wales and our region. These connections are deeply rooted evident in the many Welsh-named towns across Greater Philadelphia. Early Welsh settlers, seeking religious freedom and opportunity, played a foundational role in the area’s growth and industrial development.
We are honored to celebrate this exciting new chapter in our region’s relationship with Wales. Congratulations to Bucks County Community College and Wrexham University for forging this exceptional partnership. Your leadership in global education is helping shape the next generation of international leaders and strengthening our shared future.
