Dear BABCPHL Members and Friends,

Happy new year! Today is the last day of our fiscal year. As we wind down another 12-month cycle, I reflect upon our success and think strategically about how to overcome challenges. This year was another test of our resilience and creativity. External factors such as rising costs of doing business have forced us to make some modifications. We are excited about the benefits these changes will bring to the group and will contribute to long-term stability. For nearly 35 years, the BABCPHL has been a “connector” organization, offering worthwhile programs that deliver valuable transatlantic trade and policy information and business development opportunities.

Our first program of the new fiscal year, the 13th Annual Summer International Business Networking Reception, is taking place on July 23rd. This annual event brings together more than 150 international business executives and professionals operating in our region and celebrates the area’s status as a top US destination for innovation, investment, and trade. Keynote speakers will share their inspirational stories about groundbreaking technologies, research, and entrepreneurial activities here in the State of Pennsylvania that are exported, recognized, and employed all over the globe for the betterment of humankind. The event is a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald Camp, a core program of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Philadelphia. Click here to learn more and purchase tickets.

Hot off the presses are several new business and trade policy publications. Have you recently visited our website? Be sure to check it out! Housed in the News/Policy tab, under Trade, Investment & Policy News, and the Policy Agendas & Annual Guides dropdown, are four new documents you may find valuable as you navigate the rapidly changing global economy. The first document is published by BABCPHL parent group, BritishAmerican Business, and the second, third and fourth are UK government publications.

  1. The Trade and Investment Guide to the UK 2025/26 – an annual guide that helps US enterprises navigate the UK Market
  2. The UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy 2025: a 10-year plan to increase business investment and grow the industries of the future in the UK
  3. The UK’s Trade Strategy: a policy paper that sets forth the UK government’s plans to maximize trade opportunities now and into the future
  4. Global Trade Outlook: this document establishes a reset in the UK’s approach to international trade, one that builds on Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) designed to stimulate economic growth, through delivery of targeted business support and working with international partners to achieve mutual benefit through more agile agreements

Please reach out if you wish to chat and learn more about our focus as we launch our new fiscal year. I always welcome the opportunity to engage with you and look forward to your input about how we can deliver meaningful benefit to you and your business. See you on July 23rd if not before.

Cheers!

Jane
