The start of 2025 has been memorable and exciting for the American Airlines team at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). As the Official Airline of the Philadelphia Eagles, American had the honor of flying the team, friends, and family on several charter flights headed to The Big Game in New Orleans. Excited fans were also offered additional routes with American nonstop from The City of Brotherly Love to The Big Easy. On top of that, our teams organized gate celebrations for customers to enjoy before taking off to cheer the team on to yet another World Champion win!
This winning mentality is one that American has incorporated into its PHL hub daily operations finding new ways to continue to care for people on life’s journey. From check-in, boarding, baggage handling, in-flight service and more. American’s priority is always to deliver a safe and reliable operation that our customers can count on.
As we look ahead to this summer, American is eager to continue enhancing the customer experience with the grand opening of a brand-new Flagship® lounge at PHL. Yet unlike other airport lounges, this is an experience. The new lounge will include a full-service bar, the first of its kind in any of American’s Flagship® lounges. Customers will be able to enjoy expertly crafted cocktails and top-shelf spirits, in addition to deliciously curated menu items with fresh and local flavors.
In addition, we are refreshing our passenger boarding gate areas and installing new kiosk technology in our check-in lobbies. We are also making other adjustments to streamline the customer check-in experience with new processes and passenger assistance services. Our focus is to create an exceptional “curb to cloud” experience for our customers.
Thanks to the hard work of more than 10,000 team members who help to support Philadelphia’s Hometown Airline, we’re prepared to deliver for our customers during the peak summer travel season that kicks off with exciting new service to Milan and Edinburgh beginning in May. Overall, American will offer 18 flights to 17 transatlantic destinations from PHL this summer reaffirming the hub’s status as the preeminent transatlantic gateway.
Our global network continues to expand with more than 355 peak daily departures from PHL to more than 120 destinations worldwide. These investments not only benefit our customers, but also allows American to strengthen its economic impact throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. Simply put—more flights, more destinations, and more success for American results in a win for the community helping to make the city a vibrant place to visit, live and work.
The excitement of this year is a small preview of what’s to come in 2026 as the airline looks forward to welcoming several major global events along with tens of thousands of visitors to Philadelphia. This is an opportunity for American and PHL to continue its strong partnership and shine brightly on a grand stage.
