Jason Walker, the incoming President of the British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia (BABCPHL) and Managing Partner at Cross Border Financial Planning USA, joined the organization soon after moving to Philadelphia in 2015. “I was starting a business and had no social network at this time, so I felt the BABCPHL would be a natural fit for me to grow” he shares. By attending “as many events as possible,” he recalls immediately meeting a great group of individuals and companies that helped him settle into the Philadelphia business community. Jason began as a general member for a couple of years, until he moved into the role of BABCPHL Young Professionals Group Co-Leader and then the Treasurer on the Board of Directors, the capacity to which he serves today. As founder of Cross Border Financial Planning, Jason and his team specialize in financial planning for globally mobile clients, especially American and British expatriates.
For Jason, the BABC has been “invaluable” in building a network of trusted accountants, attorneys, and advisors to meet his clients’ needs.
Jason enjoys many BABCPHL events, like the annual fish and chip networking dinner and the signature holiday lunch in December. He is especially grateful for the diverse programs the BABC hosts. For example, the global travel update offered during the pandemic was particularly helpful. This event featured leaders from Heathrow Airport, American Airlines, and Philadelphia International Airport, providing a much-needed update on the state of travel during lock-down.
For Jason, the real value of the BABCPHL is the community of like-minded professionals. The group helps businesses connect organizations with key resources to solve international challenges. As a member of the BABC, he has seen firsthand how “a connector organization… can get things done.”
As he now prepares to step into his new role as President, Jason encourages others to affiliate. “Attend some events, meet members, and if you want to get more involved, there are always opportunities to join the board,” he says. His journey with the BABCPHL emphasizes the impact of utilizing all events to your advantage, no matter your industry.
