Introducing BABCPHL Emerging Leaders Co-Chairs

In 2013, we launched a division to gather like-minded professionals who recently embarked on their careers with a connection to UK-US business. This group is thriving with strong leaders, Ben Hooson-Jones from The Mike McCann Team, and Melissa McClure from the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“Ben the Brit,” is a passionate and highly motivated realtor specializing in Philadelphia’s residential and luxury real estate. Before venturing into real estate, Ben was a professional speaker, educating and mentoring thousands of people on emotional intelligence, communication skills, and negotiation techniques. He leverages his experience and skill set to help his clients get the best deals and prospects in the market. Ben prides himself on fostering meaningful relationships and effectively solving problems. For Ben, it’s all about the client – going above and beyond what’s expected, conducting all activities with the utmost integrity, and always keeping his client’s best interests in mind. He is committed to staying ahead of the curve through constant research and learning, and strives to streamline the process, giving his clients a pleasant, stress-free interactive experience. Ben shares, “being from the United Kingdom myself, BABC has been integral to my success over here in the US. I have been able to foster relationships with experts across many industries, which has not only helped catapult my career in real estate, but I’ve also built long-lasting friendships along the way.”

Melissa oversees the European Markets as Global Tourism Sales Manager for the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau. With a background in international tourism, Melissa accepted this position and moved to Philadelphia in October 2021. Previously, Melissa worked for an international representation company, The DMC Group, in NYC and as Destination Sales Manager, Leisure Group Tour for Visit Fairfax in Fairfax County, Virginia. Travel is more than just Melissa’s profession, but also a passion. After traveling throughout the globe, and living on three different continents, Melissa is proud to now call Philadelphia home, and to share our unique destination with travelers from around the world. Melissa has a degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management and Communications. She utilizes her background and continues to develop her skills, knowledge, and love for the industry everyday through her current position promoting Philadelphia. Melissa states, “I look forward to being a part of a collaborative and engaging group with the Emerging Leaders, giving a space for all involved in events to share goals, ideas, challenges, and successes within each of our own careers and how we can uplift and support each other within the BABC community.”

The BABCPHL welcomes and congratulates Ben and Melissa on their new roles with our organization. We are lucky to have two such enthusiastic, dedicated, and creative professionals at the helm of this important group. Join us for upcoming events to meet Ben and Melissa as well as other BABPHL members who will help you expand your network.
