What is a Fly-In? A Congressional Fly-In, also called a Hill Day, Advocacy Day, or legislative fly-in, features members of a group traveling to Washington, D.C. to meet their elected officials to deliver a message or advocate for specific legislation. Why do we do them? It is an important exercise in our democracy, gives insight into the policy making process, raises a groups’ visibility in Washington, fosters relationships with policy makes and staff, and rallies people/groups around a common interest. Who does Fly-Ins? Associations and their members, Chambers of Commerce, nonprofits, civic groups, labor unions, and organizations of all sizes and interests participate in Fly-In events.
