On Monday, June 15, 2015 the UK government announced the third annual GREAT Tech Awards (GTA).

The GTA will send six innovative tech companies to the UK for a customized business development tour. The competition is hosted by UK Trade & Investment and the British Consulates General in New York and Boston, and encourages high-growth tech companies to choose GREAT Britain as a place to grow their global business. The BABC of Greater Philadelphia is pleased to support and promote the third annual GTA.

The GTA encourages high-growth technology companies in the Northeast USA (specifically companies based in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine) to choose the UK as destination of choice for international expansion.  Six innovative companies, selected by a panel of prestigious judges and advisors, will win a roundtrip flight to London courtesy of British Airways; five nights’ accommodation courtesy of Corinthia Hotel London; and valuable professional services from lawyers Fieldfisher, accountants BDO, recruitment agents, Propel Executive, and real estate advisors, Knight Frank.  In addition, there will be high-level meetings with mentors and government officials, attendance at the unBound Digital conference in London, and business development services provided by sector specialists.

Competition categories are: EdTech, FinTech, Health, Lifestyle, Media, and CleanTech.

The “Best of USA” prize will be awarded to a US company from the Northeast USA established in the UK for less than 18 months. The winner will receive a return British Airways Premium Economy flight to the UK; five nights at Corinthia Hotel London; valuable professional services from lawyers, Fieldfisher; accountants BDO; and businesses development services from sector specialists.

The “Best of British” prize will be awarded to a UK company established in the US using disruptive technology in their sector. The Prize will include an event in the US, professional services from lawyers and accountants, and business development services from sector specialists.

Finalists will be announced in September 2015 and winners will be awarded at a gala and ceremony on October 29, 2015.
