On Wednesday, September 18, 2013 the British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia (BABC) partnered with the State of Delaware and United Kingdom Trade & Investment (UKTI) to host an exclusive meeting and reception with Sir Peter Westmacott, British Ambassador to the United States and Alan B. Levin, Secretary, Delaware Economic Development Office.
More than 80 people participated in this special program designed to facilitate an intimate discussion about the trade and commercial relationship between the United Kingdom and the State of Delaware. Regional business executives, government officials, and institutional leaders gathered in the Lower Atrium of Hercules Plaza, in Wilmington.
Hope Krebs, BABC President welcomed attendees and introduced Oliver Franklin, British Honorary Consul, who thanked the BABC, UKTI and the Embassy for collaborating with us on this event. Oliver provided a brief introduction to Alan Levin who spoke about Delaware’s ties to the United Kingdom, and provided statistics about the strong trade relationship. Alan’s discussion was the perfect introduction to Ambassador Westmacott on his first official visit to the State.
Ambassador Westmacott briefly dialogued about UK/US relations in general, the state of economic and political affairs, and the close ties between the United Kingdom and Delaware in particular. He candidly addressed attendees’ questions, and following his remarks graciously networked and took photographs with guests.
