From February 19th through March 20th, the Simeone Foundation Museum will have a limited exhibition of British Racing Cars.

All BABC Members will receive the discounted ticket price of $10 per person if they mention their affiliation with the organization when purchasing exhibition passes.
The British racing car exhibit will be in the main area of the museum, and there is also the 200 million dollar classic car collection, that is on permanent display. Free parking is right outside the museum. Don’t miss the opportunity to see these one of a kind cars.

Presenter Biographies:

Jonathan P. Armstrong practices in the area of corporate law with a concentration in technology and compliance for the Law Firm of Duane Morris out of the London Office. He is widely published and is on the speaker circuit discussing compliance issues.

Mr. Armstrong’s practice includes counseling multinational companies on matters involving risk, technology and compliance across Europe. He has handled legal matters in more than 40 countries involving emerging technology, corporate governance, reputation, internal investigations, marketing, branding and global privacy policies. Mr. Armstrong has counseled a range of clients on breach prevention, mitigation and response.

Mr. Armstrong is one of the hosts of TechLaw10, a 10-minute audio podcast update on technology law issues. He also is one of the co-authors of the LexisNexis definitive work on technology law, Managing Risk: Technology & Communications. He is a frequent broadcaster for the BBC and other channels and appeared on BBC News 24 as the studio guest on the Walport Review.

Mr. Armstrong is a graduate of the University of Leeds.

Louis R. Pichini is a director and the Philadelphia practice unit leader of the Forensic & Dispute Services practice of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP. As a senior member of the group, he has more than 30 years experience investigating complex financial crimes. Mr. Pichini was the longtime Chief of the Criminal Division for the United States Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia where he supervised 75 prosecutors, worked closely with federal and local law enforcement agents to detect and prosecute fraudulent schemes and patterns of fraudulent activity and reviewed and approved all fraud indictments. His background and skills enable him to offer clients the services of a former Justice Department career prosecutor highly experienced in sophisticated and sensitive financial investigations. Mr. Pichini also served as the Assistant-Attorney-in-Charge of the Organized Crime Division and was an adjunct professor in Trial Advocacy at the Temple University School of Law.

Additionally, Mr. Pichini has twice received Justice Department Special Commendation for Outstanding Service as well as the Justice Department’s John Marshall Award for Outstanding Legal Achievement.

Mr. Pichini has performed financial forensic investigations; testified in federal court as a forensic investigative expert; supervised and conducted investigations and prosecutions of fraud including bank, insurance, securities, bankruptcy, health care, government qui-tam false claims, money laundering, tax and environmental violations; developed investigative strategies to uncover financial crimes, trace assets and obtain asset forfeiture; planned and conducted forensic investigative interviews and performed forensic financial document reviews; advised and trained on complex white collar investigations, including use of investigative techniques, applicable federal statutes, asset forfeitures and relationships with law enforcement officials. He has also given many presentations at symposiums sponsored by the Philadelphia Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners and the World Bank among others.

Mr. Pichini attended the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School where he received a BS in Economics, and Villanova School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor.

The Impact of Innovation BABC Conference 2011

The British American Business Council chapter in Northern California is hosting the 18th annual British American Business Council Transatlantic Conference in San Francisco, from May 11-13, 2011 at the Fairmont Hotel atop Nob Hill, the most famous hotel in the city.

The conference theme for 2011 is the Impact of Innovation. The program will explore all aspects and consequences of innovation. Attendees will include an elite group of senior business executives from many of the world’s most successful companies. The panelists and keynote speakers will capture the components that breed innovation, from strategies for funding new ideas, finding human talent – both academic and industrial, to the tenacity of true entrepreneurs and the role of various service industries needed to build and foster innovation, including law, finance and marketing.
