British Embassy Open House Day 2024

Open House Day is the premier public-facing event of the year for Embassies across Washington, DC. With our Embassy and Residence under renovations for the last few years, we have unfortunately not been able to participate in the event. We are now preparing for our first Open House since 2019 on Saturday, 4 May, 2024, and we expect it to be more popular than ever. Based on previous numbers, we expect over 10,000 members of the public to pass through our gates and to generate great local media coverage.

On Thursday, April 11th the British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia was pleased to partner with the Irish American Business Chamber & Network for the latest installment of their Women in Leadership Series Around the Globe and at Home in Philadelphia: The Status of DE&I In the Corporate World at The Pyramid Club.

More than 50 guests attended the dynamic panel discussion featuring: Lauren Holden, Partner, KPMG; Sheila Alexander-Reid, PHL Diversity Executive Director, Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau; and Julia Fleischner, Trustee of the Philadelphia Art Museum and Chair of the Museum’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Committee and Trustee & Board Chair of Mural Arts Philadelphia.

Annual Global Economic Update – Recap

The BABCPHL 2024 Global Economic Update featuring industry and government leaders took place on Thursday, March 7. Club Level Member, Baker Tilly, US LLP hosted the event in their beautiful 45th floor conference center overlooking the City of Philadelphia. More than 75 people gathered for this annual program that offered an update on international business trends and policies shaping the economic trajectory of the current calendar year and beyond. Speakers addressed policy measures and structural reforms that leading nations are putting into place to mitigate risk and alleviate pressure. The discussion centered around how public and private sector entities are operating in the current economic climate and collaborating to stabilize and grow. Keynote speakers’ remarks and the interactive discussion offered valuable information about the US, UK, and other economies, as well as an overview of the global economic forecast to assist attendees in developing strategic plans.

13th Annual New Jersey Networking Event & Dinner – Recap

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, the British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia hosted the 13th Annual New Jersey Networking Event & Dinner at the British Chip Shop in Haddonfield. It was a beautiful evening, and the town was abuzz with activity for a special spring fling. Nearly forty spirited BABCPHL members and guests gathered at the Chip Shop for this signature annual program. Attendees enjoyed networking, trying their luck at winning raffle prizes, and indulging in the best fish ‘n chips on this side of the Atlantic as well as an excellent selection of specialty brewed beer supplied by King’s Road Brewery. Guests absolutely love this event and return year after year.

Together we welcomed more than 150 professionals involved in global business for an inspiring evening of relationship building and fun!

The BABCPHL was honored to deliver this program, offering international business executives the opportunity to network with professionals operating across our region and in many countries throughout the world. London Chamber of Commerce / Greater Philadelphia Regional Business Ecosystem Roundtable Discussion – Recap

On Friday, October 27, 2023, the British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia welcomed the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), and Woods International, LLC.

Nearly 20 BABCPHL members and area partners gathered around the table to welcome our guests. The discussion centered on an overview of the Greater Philadelphia business ecosystem with a focus on regional trade and commerce with the UK. Several prevalent industries were represented by professionals from both the public and private realms. The Department for Economic Development from the State of Pennsylvania and the Commerce Department from the City of Philadelphia started the discussion by setting the stage with a general overview of the regional economy, and a dynamic dialogue followed.
