As part of its U.S.-Japan Business & Public Policy Programs, the Japan America Society of Greater
Philadelphia will host a talk by Tomoko Hosaka Mullaney, renowned U.S.-Japan strategist and Vice
President of The Asia Group. Ms. Mullaney will address the increasingly important alliance between the
U.S. and Japan, how it is adapting to changes and challenges within Asia, and lastly, Japan’s evolving
role of leadership in Asia. On the tenth anniversary of 3/11, she will also look back at the tragic Great
East Japan Earthquake, and the legacy and impact of Operation Tomodachi, the U.S.-led disaster relief
operation that immediately followed. The solidarity shown in the operation has created a lasting
friendship of security and economic alliance between the U.S. and Japan.
