Every flight across the Atlantic contributes to the interconnectedness and the important relationship between the two nations. Prior to the pandemic, American Airlines widebody aircraft carried more than 331 kilotons of goods each year and more than 125,000 passengers per month between the US and the UK Despite the interruptions caused by Covid-19, American Airlines continues to operate cargo-only flights transporting more than 3 million kilograms or 6.6 million pounds of freight across the Atlantic—equating to nearly 50,000 kilograms or 110,000 pounds each day. A significant portion of the cargo shipped is pharmaceuticals to serve patients in need. In both good times and bad, trade and investment supports economic prosperity. Currently, the trade and investment relationship between the US and the UK is helping save lives.
