On Wednesday, August 1, 2012, the British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia hosted a very special networking event to view the London 2012 Summer Games. Top tier whiskey, specialty beer, and bar snacks were served at the famous Trestle Inn, whiskey and go-go bar.
The Trestle Inn presents a mash up of retro entertainment, music, food and drink. In lieu of barbarella-clad go go dancers swinging to French pop, blue-eyed soul, pyschobilly, funk, garage and disco presented on most nights of the week, BABC members and friends viewed BBC coverage of the London 2012 Games.
The BABC event at the Trestle Inn was a resounding success! Over 50 attendees filled the front and back rooms, and enjoyed cheering for the US and UK athletes as they competed in swimming, boxing, and archery. Well after the event concluded, guests continued to linger and remained long into the evening.
BABC Executive Director, Jane Rosenberg welcomed guests, and discussed the “Brit Invasion” the City of Philadelphia is undergoing. “It’s an exciting time to be involved with the BABC. In late April, the BABC launched Brit Invasion 2012 – a series of programs featuring: British Royalty; BABC Young Professionals; local businesses supporting London 2012; and numerous opportunities to network and enhance commercial ties between the Greater Philadelphia region and the UK. During the coming months we will see an even greater UK presence in our area, including the 2013 Flower Show – ‘Brilliant!’ Jane welcomed special guests from The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, several BABC Board Members, and BABC Young Professionals Group Leaders to The Trestle.
Special thanks to Ian Cross, owner of The Trestle Inn and BABC Marketing & Communications Chairman for providing BABC guests to an unforgettable event.
