An Important Year for the BABC of Greater Philadelphia
Dear BABC Members,
I am pleased to report more success for the BABC of Greater Philadelphia. The first several busy months of the calendar year have already reaped numerous benefits. We continue to build membership; deliver timely, topical programs; and disseminate valuable information. Recently we participated in two business roundtable seminars around the new UK Bribery Act and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as a Global Healthcare program.
The most notable recent event however, was our participation in a reception in honor of Andrew Witty, Chief Executive Officer, GlaxoSmithKline PLC in conjunction with Oliver Franklin, Honorary British Consul and Mayor Nutter. With respect to notable publications, I am pleased to share the UK Budget 2011 and Plan for Growth with you. As a valuable member of the BABC of Greater Philadelphia I hope you have found our programs and materials beneficial as you conduct business on both sides of the Atlantic.
The BABC of Greater Philadelphia in large part attributes the organization’s accomplishments to our small, but strong, regional staff. Jaime Scofield, BABC Intern since March 2008, will officially be transitioning her position to Stephanie Eisen at the beginning of this month. Jaime has been a consistently hard worker, organized, creative and friendly during her entire tenure with the BABC. As one of her final projects Jaime spearheaded the successful BABC Membership Survey. I speak on behalf of the entire Board and the Executive Director when I extend a very special thank you, congratulations on graduation and good luck to Jaime, and a warm welcome to Stephanie.
Finally, as we enter the home stretch before our books close on June 30, this is our last Connect Newsletter for the fiscal year. The 2011-2012 BABC Membership Directory will be published this summer, and Connect will return in the Autumn. I look forward to seeing you on May 11th at our sold-out international business networking event and soccer game at PPL Park to watch Philadelphia Union vs. LA Galaxy. As always, if there is anything we can do better, if there are programs you would like to see planned or if you would just like to consult with us on your cross border business needs, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Neil Boyden Tanner
President, BABC of Greater Philadelphia
