IVC, the International Visitors Council, is the region’s international relations organization and private sector partner of the U.S. Department of State and the City of Philadelphia’s Sister Cities Program. Through its “citizen diplomacy” work IVC puts international relations on a personal level by engaging local citizens in playing an important role in shaping how the U.S. is viewed around the world.
As the official representative for the U.S. Department of State’s highest exchange, the “International Visitor Leadership Program,” IVC hosts more than 400 emerging and established leaders from 130+ countries each year. It arranges their professional itineraries, including site visits and meetings in offices, courtrooms and classrooms, as well as dinners in private homes. Each distinguished visitor is provided opportunities to meet their counterparts for professional exchanges, and to experience American life and culture so they can form their own opinion of the United States and American people.
IVC offers monthly receptions, First Thursday, that warmly welcome guests of the U.S. Government, Sister Cities Program, visiting scholars and corporations with foreign executives.
IVC believes in the power of exchanges, knowing that face-to-face interactions build friendships and mutual understanding among the people of the world.
